Under the general title of Geotechnical Technology Forum, four exhibitions will be held on Wednesday, September 18, 2024: "Soil and Groundwater Purification Technology Exhibition," "Ground Improvement Technology Exhibition," "Basic Engineering Technology Exhibition," and "Disaster Countermeasure Technology Exhibition." The event will be held at Tokyo Big Sight for three days from 20th to 20th (Friday). As the transition to a sustainable society progresses, solutions are needed to address soil and groundwater contamination caused by harmful chemicals at factories and their former sites. The ``Soil and Groundwater Purification Technology Exhibition'' is an exhibition that comprehensively introduces full-fledged and unified efforts to address soil and groundwater contamination issues from both hard and soft perspectives, such as evolving purification technology and risk communication. . This time, we will pay particular attention to countermeasure technology for PFAS (organic fluorine compounds), for which research into their effects on the human body will begin in earnest next year. With concentrations of PFAS exceeding the national ``temporary target'' being detected one after another across the country, the development of measurement, analysis, and treatment technologies is proceeding at a rapid pace. At this exhibition, we have requested the "PFAS Countermeasures Technology Consortium" to hold a special seminar "About the latest technology to counter PFAS in Europe." In addition, we will also cooperate with the "European PFAS Countermeasure Technology Field Visit (sponsored by the PFAS Countermeasure Technology Consortium)" scheduled around the time of the forum. Addressing the vulnerability of the national territory, including measures against natural disasters that have become more severe in recent years, is also becoming increasingly important in order to realize a sustainable society. The ``Ground Improvement Technology Exhibition'' introduces techniques to create the optimal ground for installing all kinds of structures and buildings, and the ``Basic Engineering Technology Exhibition'' introduces techniques for building, roads, ports, railway structures, industrial facilities, etc. We will introduce the basic construction technology that supports the infrastructure of Japan. The "Disaster Countermeasure Technology Exhibition" complements the other three exhibitions and covers countermeasures for special cases called disasters. We are confident that the Geotechnical Forum can create a unique opportunity to provide one-stop solutions for "underground visualization and countermeasures" for a sustainable society. In past events, many government offices, local governments, developers, construction and civil engineering companies, and all other related parties have attended.
